Sona the Sausage Dog

Updated: Jan 25, 2021

I have been meaning to document my time as a PAWrent for a little while now so here it goes...

I grew up on a farm in Ireland surrounded by lots of different types of animals, so finally making the decision to get our puppy was pretty easy. Disclaimer, it did take me about two years to finally persuade my partner Buzz to get a puppy- if you want a fur friend I would mention it to your partner sooner rather than later.

About Sona

Sona is a smooth haired miniature dachshund. Sona is bursting with personality and affection.

Her name means happy in Gaelic Irish. My partner suggested the name Sona and fortunately it could not have been a more perfect choice, as she is literally the definition of happiness.Sona is super loving, stubborn and very playful. If you get a dachsund you will know that you spend 90% of your time trying to restore your dog's ears to factory settings.

Five things I love about Sona

  1. Sona gives the best cuddles.

  2. Sona is always so happy to you see.

  3. She rings a tiny bell to go the bathroom.

  4. She makes the cutest noises when she wakes up.

  5. Sona has the sassiest little sausage strut.

Five naughty things about Sona

  1. Sona barks very loudly for a tiny dog.

  2. She can steal hats, underwear and slippers within seconds.

  3. Sona would 100% steal her homan's food if she got the chance.

  4. She can be stubborn about going outside in the wet and the cold.

  5. She tries to chew our cosy blankets.

Getting a dog was a big commitment but I am so glad that we finally go our little sausage puppy. She is now 10 months old and she is still as loving and as playful as ever. Sona has defiantly given me hope and motivation during this crazy year. Taking Sona out for walks; having her to speak to has been an utterly rewarding and gratifying experience. Some people may refer to her as "just a dog" but my dachshund is so much more than that to me. Sona is always there when I need her; she is the most incredible little four pawed creature who emits love and joy anywhere she goes.

I think I'm going to stop writing now before this starts to sound like a love poem to my dog but I genuinely feel so lucky to have her in my life. I am slowly turning into a crazy dachshund lady but I am 100% okay with that.

P.S. Sona is also on Instagram so please give her a follow if you wish to follow her doggie adventures.
